MoveAmerica APEX Accelerator Connects Small Businesses with State and City Procurement Opportunities in Dearborn Workshop

The MoveAmerica APEX Accelerator hosted "Pathways to Procurement: State & City Opportunities" on November 25, 2025, at the Ford Center for Performing Arts in Dearborn, Michigan. The half-day workshop brought together procurement specialists from both the State of Michigan and the City of Detroit to help small businesses navigate government contracting with confidence.
More than 40 businesses registered for the interactive session, which provided a practical introduction to local and state procurement pathways. The event attracted a mix of established government contractors and businesses new to the public sector marketplace.
Attendees received step-by-step guidance on City of Detroit certification programs, vendor registration requirements, and current bidding opportunities. Procurement specialists walked participants through the application process and explained how to position their businesses for success in municipal contracting. The workshop also featured a hands-on demonstration of the State of Michigan's SIGMA Vendor Self-Service (VSS) platform. Participants learned how to register as vendors, search for solicitations, and identify contracting opportunities aligned with their capabilities.
The MoveAmerica APEX Accelerator provides no-cost consulting and training to help businesses pursue government contracts at the federal, state, and local levels. Through workshops, one-on-one counseling, and matchmaking events, the program helps companies of all sizes access the public sector marketplace.
